Press release – Neighbourhood Development Plan Design Forum: Day 1 and Day 2 Report

On 1 st and 2 nd November 2017 the Bramshott and Liphook Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP) Steering Group, along with the appointed independent NDP consultant Feria Urbanism, held a Design Forum at the  Millennium Centre to explore the ideas and ambitions of those who live and
work in the Parish.

The two day event was very well attended, with over 200 residents and businesses getting involved. Day One saw 19 presenters, including local schools, businesses, support groups and developers, present their vision of the future of the Parish. Participants then visited specific areas of the Parish
and continued group work investigating areas for improvement. The  evening saw over 100 residents, businesses and representatives from local organisations look at the day’s work and provide invaluable ideas, feedback and comments on the future of the Parish.

Day Two started with Feria Urbanism summarising work done so far and comments received from local residents and businesses, which participants then explored and finessed. In the evening of Day Two Feria Urbanism and the NDP steering group presented the ‘story so far’ to a packed room of
residents and representatives of local businesses and organisations. The presentation highlighted the unique challenges that the Parish faces and additional work required to seek a holistic solution which the community can reach a consensus on.

Emma Winfield, chair of the NDP said “On behalf of the NDP steering group and Feria Urbanism, I would like to thank everyone who participated in this community event. We had a real cross section of the Parish sharing their views and ideas for the future. It was great to hear how passionate everyone is about the area, the sense of community and wanting the best for the Parish and all who live and work in it. There were a fantastic range of great and insightful ideas and comments on areas of concern as well as how areas could be improved. We are now working on preparations for the third day of the Design Forum on 28th November.”

The presentation, summarising the work of the Design Forum is now on the NDP website and a copy is available to read at the Parish office. It is important to note that this presentation is a “snap-shot in time” and a record of where we are at. It is not an endorsement of any of the proposals. It is a working document to inform the next steps in the process. We would encourage everyone to have a read, “tell us about it” and come along to the third day of the Design Forum on 28h November at the
Millennium Centre.
